Where in the World is Kit McKenna??

Semi-permanent Melbourne ripper, Kit McKenna moved to the UK for his Gap year to work at an Outdoor Education Centre about 20 Minutes from Birmingham. Kit's always doing something interesting & here's a few words that he wanted to let the world know...

I'm over in England & living in a little village called Blackwell, about a 20 minute train ride from Birmingham. My job is working as an instructor at an Outdoor Adventure Centre that is based in an old haunted manor & the surrounding grounds. I run activities like rock climbing, archery, abseiling, high ropes courses etc. There isn’t much to ride around here, but I am lucky there is a big sports hall with a cool plastic floor.

I can ride here most nights, I just have to make sure I don’t dint the floor with my pegs!

I didn’t bring my bike over with me so I got myself a very nice T1 Barcode for 200 quid once I arrived. Threw some new wheels on it & some crappy pegs & its sweet!

Word on the street is that Kit is hoping to make it to The Green Mile soon to session, stay tuned for more updates...

Colony DownUnderground T-Shirts - buy em while you can!!

Show your support!

The Colony DownUnderground Finals are coming up on July 4 in Brisbane & what better way to rep than with your own shirt - in Aussie green or gold or limited edition grey tank top!

They are available on the day for $10AUD or can be posted ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD for $15AUD.

Sizes available are small, medium or large.

Email Shaun Jarvis on shaun@freestylenow.net.au to get it sorted!

Weekly roundup...

Quite a few things happening about the place. Colony head honcho & one time robot flatlander, Clint Millar has a cool segment on FAT BMX & also mentions yours truly & Simon O'Brien.

Speaking of Colony, Simon's signature DejaVu frame will be available from August/September depending on where in the world you are! Is there anticipation or what for that???

In other Simon news, he's coming close to finishing work on his house & will also be heading to Japan for a few weeks at the end of May.

Simon is also working hard on the follow up DVD to Made You Look. He's aiming for a release of early next year - if the riding in MYL is anything to go by, this next video is going to be a straight up masterpiece!!

Realise that this Colony edit has been put up of him sessioning last year, but it's worth checking out again!!

And finally, the big man of West Oz himself, Shaun Jarvis has had the very best of medical technology applied to his elbow. In the words of Shaun himself...

"I just had 40 million cells injected into my elbow today. These cells were cultivated from a very small piece of my patella tendon. The goal is to allow this cells to fix the torn damage in my elbow tendon. Yes, I have been suffering a really bad tennis elbow for the past 8 months & I'm hoping to have it fixed with this research treatment".

Crazy.

Hailed 'the best mag yet' by riders nationwide, this issue focuses on BMX as a self sufficient and creative subculture. Interviews with Russel 'rusty' Brindley and Nick Hills showcase some seriously burly bike control as well as some witty and interesting lifestyle views. Also featuring music, art and video reviews, BMX games coverage and 'Do it yourself' BMX spots from all over the country.
With stylish layouts, left-wing rants and Photographic imagery that'll knock your socks off, the subtitle 'Photography, lifestyle and the truth' has never been more relevant to an issue. Get hold of a copy now!

Michael Husser - continued

The feedback has been great on Michael's video from his first part - awesome to see!

Michael also wanted to say a few things about his time traveling around Ausralia:

Hi guys!
Traveling around Australia with my bike in the van.. What a great journey!
I spent 8 months traveling around this amazing country, and riding by myself on some random spots.
After 6 months, my first contact with the Aussie flatland scene was with this "top bloke" Shaun Jarvis and the over-motivated Andrew.
I quickly enjoyed their attitude, the West Coast Crew rocks!
And then I arrived in Melbourne: The Trap.
The activist Paul Chamberlain introduced me to this city where I met some cool dudes like Chris Polack and Ben Moran with who it was great to hang with after riding!

I will bring a great souvenir from this Aussie flatland family back to France.
Thanks for everything guys!
Michael

Photos taken by Michael's friend David Apostol of Melbourne. He's always keen to shoot flatland & can be reached at d_apostol1@hotmail.com for more info, so hit him up!

Eric Effinger interview on Global & pics from W.A!

Semi-permanent Australian resident, Mike S from Germany recently did a nice little interview with Canadian ripper & visitor Eric Effinger on Global-Flat. Both had been riding the famous Hyde Park spot in central Sydney & hopefully they'll be making it back sometime soon. Great to see they've been making the Colony DownUnderground Series as well.
Pic thanks to Mike S.

Perth rippers Shaun Jarvis & Mike Brandt sent me a couple pics from their sesh at the Concert Hall on Friday. Looks like Shaun's elbow is all good & it's a marble spot - dope!!!
